THE CHEESE BARREL

On a beautiful August Monday, Wilson and I drove up to Swan Valley for a romantic little day trip. We specifically stopped by The Cheese Barrel as recommended by my lovely friend, Lisa who visited earlier in the year. As we arrived, we turned into the entrance and drove down the strip past the grape vines and reached the beautiful wooden building. Walking in you see a big outdoor space (which, turns out to be a balcony) with beautiful Australian views - tall bushy trees and green grass which is very relaxing on the eyes. This year, I've realised how crucial it is for your mind to get back to nature - whether it's walking down the river, hiking or even relaxing on the beach. Just sitting on the balcony put my mind to ease and I felt a lot more relaxed than I normally am.

Okay now, lets get down to business - and when I say business.. I actually mean food. There is a very wide range of beautiful cheese for you to choose from as well as cheese boards, drinks and desserts. We chose to build our own board via their 'Premium Selection' with 3 cheeses. We picked the Cambray Brie, Surprise Bay Cheddar and the Pradera which, were all delicious. (I re-visited in October and tried the Cranberry Wensleydale and it was absolutely amazing!) As it was a warmer day, the Brie slowly melted creating a beautiful creamy texture when eating with the lavosh crackers- it was divine. We also ended up ordering wines to sip on while we ate and enjoyed each others company. I highly recommend visiting if you love cheese, wine and nature.
