For those who follow me on Instagram, you probably know by now that the beautiful ladies at Iconic Medispa have been maintaining the health of my skin for the past 6 months with a range of weekly to fortnightly skin treatments including: EnzymeFIX and InfusaFix Masks, LED Light Therapy and HydraFacials. As I hit mid 20's last September, I became fully aware that I need to start properly looking after my skin. I do my usual daily three step routine morning and night: cleanse, tone and moisturise as well as an occasional mask when I feel like my skin is tired. I feel that being proactive and actually having someone to recommend and look after my skin on top of my daily routine has really helped maintain my skin at a higher level - keeping it clear from blemishes for a longer period of time as well as overall improvement of the texture and hydration of my skin. I also learned the importance of wearing 50+ sun protection daily (even if it's cloudy) from Helen who has been my main beautician throughout my skin journey.
About my skin
I am classified as a combination and sensitive skin type which means my T-zone is oily and the rest of my skin is normal to dry though I do have certain dry spots - mainly on the side of my nose. I don't wear any foundation at all as I prefer to let my skin breathe (extremely thankful I don't feel the need to) so, usually my make up routine will include filling in my brows, putting on mascara, sweeping on some bronzer and lastly applying a tinted lip balm - Note: In the image above I've also put on false lashes, eyeliner and eye shadow. I do get the occasional big mama pimples and my resident chin pimple which, I've had since my teen days (It's even on my passport - sigh) always re-appears at the worst possible times. It hasn't fully cleared out yet but, hopefully it will disappear soon.
I absolutely love going in for a HydraFacial every four weeks. It is basically a really deep clean for your face, kinda the same feeling as getting your teeth cleaned by a dentist (which, the clinic also does as they are part medispa, part denist). You also get to see all the icky stuff they extract from your skin afterwards which, I know is gross but, I have to admit is very satisfying at the same time as you know that your skin is nice and clean after. I also always notice how plump and hydrated my skin feels after my HydraFacials and a few friends have also commented on how my skin glows when I catch up for coffee with them afterwards!
Q. Why should I get a HydraFacial?
The HydraFacial combines exfoliation, deep cleansing technology and nourishing antioxidants to increase the skin's uptake of essential nutrients so that your skin is left looking young, fresh and radiant. It has many benefits including: improving fine lines and wrinkles, clears congested pores, helps with any pigmentation, age spots or acne prone skin, clears out blackheads and white heads as well as dead skin cells, rejuvenates sun damaged skin, improves hydration and controls excess oil.
Q. How does it work?
HydraFacial involves a sequence of treatments that work together to enhance the overall result. It is an advanced facial rejuvenation procedure which takes about 30 minutes.
1. Cleansing and Exfoliation - Excess dead skin cells are removed to reveal healthy new skin
2. Acid Peel - A gentle peel that helps loosen dirt and debris from pores without irritation. It also stimulates the repair and regeneration of fresh new skin.
3. Vortex Extraction - A deep and painless clean by the vortex suction to extract and clean out pores.
4. Infusion - A range of antioxidants, peptides and hyaluronic acid are Vortex-fused to nourish and protect the skin deep within.
Q. Who is it suitable for?
It is suitable for almost all ages and all skin types including sensitive skin. It is for anyone who wants to improve or maintain their skin health.

In between my HydraFacials, I often go in for either an ExzymeFIX mask which, is a skin renewal mask formulated with natural enzymes that get rid of dead skin cells and promotes cell renewal for smoother, more luminous skin or an InfusaFIX mask which, is a customised infusion mask to improve hydration and allows penetration of rich vitamins and minerals. After the mask I go under the Healite II for Low-level Light Therapy (LLLT) - pictured above, for about 10-15minutes to enhance the body's natural cellular recovery. The Light Emitting Diode (LED) light has many benefits including improving healing times, relieving pain, subsiding active acne, promoting skin rejuvenation and more. I usually go under the yellow light which is the main light for the benefits just listed - there is also a blue light which targets active acne and a red light which helps with non-melanoma skin cancer and hair growth. After the treatment, the last steps are always applying an Ultraceuticals serum then a 50+ sun protection on top.
Overall, my experience at Iconic Medispa has been a very positive one. The girls are so lovely and very knowledgeable - they tailor you to your own special skin needs and will recommend what's best for you. Remember, a good skin care routine and maintenance is key to beautiful, glowing skin so, once in a while - I highly recommend treating yourself and booking in for a HydraFacial or even just a signature facial for that matter. A huge thanks to the lovely Karen for recommending me to them and of course Marina, Helen and the Iconic Medispa Team for accommodating and looking after me.
